Experiences Canada (formerly SEVEC) is a national charitable organization and a leading provider of youth travel and exchange opportunities in Canada. Through its flagship reciprocal exchanges program, which is generously supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage, thousands of young Canadians deepen their understanding of Canada’s history, geography, linguistic, cultural, and social diversity.
Through reciprocal educational exchanges exploring language, culture, and community, Experiences Canada promotes connectedness to Canada and an increased appreciation of history in today’s youth, shaping them into strong global citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.
Formed in 1981 by the merger of Visites Interprovincial (founded in 1936) and the Bilingual Exchange Secretariat, Experiences Canada has focused on providing youth travel and exchanges within Canada for 80 years. Fifteen years ago, the Department of Canadian Heritage committed to travelling 10,000 youth annually on exchanges. Experiences Canada has been the lead non-profit partner for this program, delivering exchanges to 4,000-5,000 young Canadians every year. Experiences Canada has also delivered several special government projects, including travelling 27,500 youth as part of Voyageur 125.
