IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL EXCHANGES
Experiences Canada offers youth in-person and virtual exchanges for participants between the ages of 12 and 17 years old. Exchanges can be completed in groups of 10 to 30 youth, or individually. In addition to our traditional virtual exchange program, youth can also participate in our Virtual Choir and our Virtual Art Gallery – both of which allow youth to express themselves artistically and share their talents with the rest of the country. All virtual exchange elements can be found on our virtual map of Canada!
Young people can increase their second language skills, form new friendships, and develop greater self-confidence while discovering another culture and community within Canada as well as deepening their knowledge and appreciation of their own.
In-Person Exchanges
For over 85 years, Experiences Canada has been offering youth opportunities to explore Canada in ways they never imagined.
Experiences Canada offers youth exchanges for participants aged 12 to 17 years old. The exchanges are organized between groups of 10 to 30 young people. Our reciprocal exchanges offer life-changing experiences: enabling young Canadians to build personal skills and self-confidence; form new friendships; deepen their knowledge of a second language, of other histories and cultures, and inspire them to become more actively engaged in their communities.

As schools and educators increase their use of online learning, Experiences Canada is offering a fun, engaging activity that will connect young people to each other. It will encourage them to discover the diverse history, geography, languages, cultures and ways of life that shape their communities and our country. Virtual Exchanges can support social studies, language, and creative studies curricula from Grades 7-12, as well as second language learning.
The This! Is Canada – Virtual Choir, is made up of youth age 11-17 from across Canada who have a passion for singing. Participants meet weekly for group rehearsals via Zoom led by a professional voice coach, and attend monthly social hangouts just for fun. Participants learn Canadian popular music pieces and are encouraged to submit vocal recordings of their parts, plus photos and/or videos to go into a group choir video for each song!
Experiences Canada’s This! Is Canada – Virtual Art Gallery is a space for young Canadians to express themselves through art and to share their talents with the rest of the country. The gallery serves to build community awareness and connectedness by showcasing the incredible challenges & strengths Canadian youth have faced and overcome during the pandemic. The gallery highlights the talents and diversity of our country’s young people from coast-to-coast-to-coast!
This! is Canada – A CELEBRATION OF YOUTH
Experiences Canada invites you to join us as we celebrate the amazing accomplishments of Canadian youth during these challenging times. Whether they have been sharing stories about their community as part of our virtual exchanges; creating music videos as part of our virtual choir; or contributing art to our virtual art expo – we wanted to take a moment to celebrate this journey with them!
