Entrepreneurship

This next topic is perfect for anyone that is interested in starting their own business! Our goal is to give young people the tools they need to get them started on the path to entrepreneurship. We’ll cover key topics such as brainstorming and problem-solving, creating a business plan, marketing your business, and finding investors. In addition, we’ll take a look at the common skills and personality traits of successful entrepreneurs as well as the most important steps to take when launching a new business. Most importantly, this engaging topic will help youth explore career opportunities in business and innovation and discover if entrepreneurship is right for them.

In the sections below we have provided additional resources to support our live event and to provide opportunities for youth to engage in personal development and career exploration.

Live Event

For this topic, we will hear from three talented entrepreneurs that understand what it takes to get a successful business up and running. They are so excited to tell us about amazing enterprises and share their knowledge and expertise with youth. Christopher Thompson, Founder and Educational Director of Skills For Life, Sierra Lathlin, Founder of The Barkery Dog Treats, and Alessandra Amato, Co-Founder of Algi Foods By participating in this engaging discussion, youth will gain the confidence they need to get from a really good idea all the way to making it a reality!

If you are under the age of 30, we would appreciate your help in completing a brief post-webinar survey to assist us with evaluating the impact of the series for our funder, RBC Future Launch.  Be assured all responses will be kept fully confidential: https://bit.ly/survey_careers

E-Learning Modules

Our e-learning series is designed to allow youth to confidently map out this next phase of their life through their own customized plan. These on-demand modules provide practical step-by-step guided instructions, curated resources and worksheets. All 6 modules are now available for completion!

Our ‘Start Your Enterprise’ module helps youth convert an idea for a business or volunteer project into a basic business plan to support them in communicating their ideas to potential funders.

Career VLOGS

Our Career VLOGs provide an inside look into different careers, as each video asks professionals basic questions about how they started in their industry, what skills and education are required, and where they see the opportunities for youth interesting in getting into this line of work today. These vlogs will provide a starting point for youth to explore a career option that they may have never thought of pursuing.
