Youth Leader

CALL FOR YOUTH LEADERS

Do you enjoy working with like-minded youth? Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your virtual learning knowledge and gain valuable experience in event management, human relations, and leadership? Then apply today to become a Youth Leader for one or more of our upcoming Youth Leadership Virtual Forums and put yourself at the forefront of this amazing youth-led educational program.

 

Experiences Canada is seeking 20 youth leaders, aged 21-30 to help spearhead our forthcoming adventure, 4 for each Forum. As a Youth Leader, you will be assigned a small cohort of youth and support them throughout the 4 virtual webinars per Forum. You will attend youth leader meetings to discuss roles and responsibilities with Experiences Canada staff, and you will ensure that youth are engaged during the webinars and complete the assigned tasks. Youth leaders will hold regular check in with youth to review topics. During the webinar series youth leaders will welcome speakers, lead breakout sessions and provide support where needed.

 

This a unique opportunity for you to expand your network whilst gaining valuable experience in youth education, event management, communications, team building, and group facilitation!

Experiences Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to facilitating transformational youth travel, exchanges, and online learning experiences for 5,000 young Canadians each year.

 

Experiences Canada`s educational programs provide Canadian youth with unique opportunities to explore Canada’s diversity of language, history, culture, and heritage through shared experiences with other Canadians —youth participants, host families, and their broader communities.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen
  • Must be between the ages of 21 and 30 at the time of the Forum
  • Must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent education
  • Must be able to provide a clear police record and vulnerable sector check
  • Must agree to abide by a code of conduct throughout the project period
  • Must be available to complete all scheduled training sessions in the lead-up to the forum

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Experiences Canada is seeking to develop a team of Youth Leaders that reflects the regional, linguistic and cultural diversity of the country. Experiences Canada will use the following selection criteria to evaluate all applications:

  • Demonstrated interest in the Forum topic(s)
  • Experience working with children and youth in volunteer or paid capacity
  • Demonstrated youth leadership qualities, ability to work in teams
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

 

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION

  • Each Youth Leader will receive a cash honorarium of ($500) at the completion of the Forum.
  • While we appreciate all those who apply, we regret that only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by Experiences Canada.
  • Part-time hours: 15-20 per month

    • Forums are held on Sunday and Monday evenings the first and second week of each month

Exchanges Account Coordinator

Experiences Canada is currently looking to fill the position of Exchanges Account coordinator. Due to COVID 19, Experiences Canada has temporarily transitioned its reciprocal exchange program to a virtual format that allows youth to stay connected and collaborate in a virtual space. The virtual exchange program offers a fun and engaging series of activities that encourage youth to share their community’s diverse history, geography, languages, cultures and way of life and contribute their projects to a virtual map of Canada.

This dynamic individual is responsible for the day-to-day administration of both the virtual youth exchange program, and the in-person exchange program. You will work in a small, dedicated team and communicate directly with teachers, group leaders, and exchange participants and their parents regarding registration, travel, paperwork and trouble-shooting difficulties with our online learning platforms. This bilingual mandatory position requires strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills along with experience with data entry.  Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Operations

Data Entry/Salesforce/Talentlms

  • Responsible for testing applications within Salesforce, reviewing applications and ensuring all processes in exchange cycle are up to date within database;
  • Responsible for the overall data entry of exchange projects;
  • Enter costs, collect invoices and reconcile program files;
  • Twin eligible applicants within the database;
  • Connect Organizers and participants to e-Learning platforms and assist with connection queries when required;
  • Download youth projects from Talentlms platform; and
  • Upload youth projects onto virtual map;
  • Connect organizers and parents to secure portal and assist with organizers’ queries when required;

Administration

  • Ensures all projects mandatory documents are completed and saved appropriately in Salesforce and company drive
  • Assists with the preparation of exchange documents (pre, during and post) using Microsoft Suite software e.g. Word, PowerPoint; and Adobe Pro Acrobat;Updates and edits documents in English and French  to reflect program changes and revised health and safety guidelines

Communication

  • Collaborates with Group Organizers and parents to review program objectives and activity plans;
  • Liaises with travel agency to discuss cost and plan travel arrangements;
  • Acts as primary contact with group organizers and parents during  entire exchange, ensures follow-up where necessary;
  • Assist group organizers, parents and youth in submitting projects in virtual exchange program;
  • Participates in conferences as a representative of Experiences Canada and presents information sessions and workshops about the program as required;
  • Staffs the emergency cell phone 24/7 according to a shared timetable;
  • Responds to general inquiries and prepares regular written correspondence about the program;
  • Conducts recruitment calls and visits schools and community groups to promote the program as required;
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new programs;
