Pouvez-vous nous parler un peu de vous?<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Je m’appelle Shelby Yoder (n\u00e9e Larsen) et j’ai particip\u00e9 \u00e0 un \u00e9change linguistique avec SEVEC (maintenant Experiences Canada) en 2006. Comme beaucoup de futurs participants, j’\u00e9tais tr\u00e8s nerveuse \u00e0 l’id\u00e9e de voyager sans mes parents et de vivre dans la maison d’une famille \u00e0 l’autre bout du pays. Mes craintes \u00e9taient totalement futiles, car mon s\u00e9jour en \u00e9change a \u00e9t\u00e9 l’un des moments forts de mes ann\u00e9es de coll\u00e8ge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Quel impact votre participation et votre engagement aupr\u00e8s d’Exp\u00e9riences Canada ont-ils eu sur votre vie?<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Je me souviens qu’en rentrant chez moi apr\u00e8s mon \u00e9change, j’\u00e9tais tr\u00e8s enthousiaste \u00e0 l’id\u00e9e d’apprendre le fran\u00e7ais. Je me suis mise \u00e0 regarder Radio Canada, \u00e0 \u00e9couter de la musique fran\u00e7aise et m\u00eame \u00e0 lire mes romans pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s en fran\u00e7ais. \u00c0 partir de ce moment-l\u00e0, j’ai saisi toutes les occasions de m’impliquer avec SEVEC. \u00c0 l’\u00e9cole secondaire, j’ai particip\u00e9 au programme Volunteer Youth Exchange Alberta et je me suis jointe au Comit\u00e9 consultatif des jeunes (CCJ), dont je suis devenue la pr\u00e9sidente.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Parmi les moments forts de mon s\u00e9jour au sein du CJC, je cite nos r\u00e9unions annuelles \u00e0 Ottawa, le b\u00e9n\u00e9volat \u00e0 un kiosque lors du festival de la f\u00eate du Canada \u00e0 Langley et ma participation \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence de l’ACPLS avec l’un de mes enseignants. Apr\u00e8s l’\u00e9cole secondaire, j’ai poursuivi mes \u00e9tudes en fran\u00e7ais et j’ai obtenu un B.A. et un B.Ed. avec une sp\u00e9cialisation en fran\u00e7ais. Aujourd’hui, j’enseigne le fran\u00e7ais langue seconde et l’\u00e9ducation physique au secondaire \u00e0 Edmonton, en Alberta.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Au cours des neuf derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es en tant qu’enseignante, j’ai eu l’occasion d’accueillir deux \u00e9changes linguistiques avec Exp\u00e9riences Canada et j’esp\u00e8re participer \u00e0 un troisi\u00e8me cette ann\u00e9e. C’est une joie unique pour moi d’offrir cette opportunit\u00e9 \u00e0 mes \u00e9l\u00e8ves, car je suis consciente de l’impact profond que ce programme exerce sur ses participants. Toutes ces ann\u00e9es plus tard, je suis toujours en contact avec mon partenaire d’\u00e9change et quelques membres du CCJ. Les relations cr\u00e9\u00e9es dans le cadre de ce programme durent vraiment toute la vie!<\/p>\n
