Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications (the Senior Manager) is responsible for the overall success and operations of Experiences Canada’s communications department and marketing activities. The Senior Manager ensures there are annual communications and marketing plans and works closely with the CEO and senior team to design and deliver these plans to support program, fundraising, and brand awareness goals. The Senior Manager will work with the team to design and launch exchange outreach and community fundraising strategies and campaigns to ensure inclusive and wide-reaching goals and objectives are established. The Senior Manager will lead a team of two, as well as contractors, and report to the Chief Executive Officer.

 

This position requires a strategic, progressive thinker who values a data-driven approach to their strategies and plans. They also need to be a leader, relationship builder, and able to work with a wide range of stakeholders including other staff and board of directors, members from the private and public sectors, and national partners.

 

Main Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Senior Manager include:

 

Strategic Planning & Operations

  • Develop and execute annual marketing and communications plans based on consumer research and multiple data source points. The annual plans are to include:
    • Key performance indicators (KPI) for all objectives including setting annual audience reach targets and measuring the effectiveness of the marketing funnel.
    • Collaborate and strategize with other department leads in the development of annual marketing/communications plans including for programs/projects, finance, events, and fundraising.
  • Regularly measure the impact of the communications and digital marketing strategies implemented connecting them back to the KPIs.
  • Manage a small team of employees responsible for content creation, video production, website updates, fundraising campaigns, and social media.
  • Oversee the organization and ongoing management of the department’s digital ecosystem, files and records.

 

Brand, Communications & Digital Marketing

  • Lead overall brand management: ensuring consistent use across all media and materials, monitoring permissions, and use of logos by partners/funders etc.
  • Manage editing, design, and uploads to Experiences Canada’s website.
  • Design and supervise results-driven social media campaigns on various platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
  • Seek and nurture partnerships with youth ambassadors and social media influencers to increase the company’s brand reach and strength.
  • Track performing and non-performing aspects of the marketing/comms plans and present regular updates and reports to senior management and the Board of Senior Managers.
  • Integrate public relations into the external comms/marketing strategies.

 

Fundraising – ‘The Donor Journey’, Membership & Sponsorship

  • Working alongside the CEO, develop and implement a ‘Donor Journey’, including campaigns for prospective donors, lapsed donors, and alumni.
  • Develop complementing membership and sponsorship strategies that enable the organization to increase funding streams, awareness, and retention.
  • Play a strong supporting role in the organization’s major events such as conferences or forums including the design of all materials, promotional schedules, postings etc.
  • Oversee production of comm/marketing products for programs, projects, events, and fundraising ensuring that the target audience needs for each product have been incorporated.
  • Working alongside the CEO, build a sponsorship package with supporting unique marketing materials that clearly defines the value proposition at the various levels of sponsorship.

 

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in senior marketing and communications roles that demonstrate a successful track record of measurable results.
  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple projects/programs across departments, with various deadlines, serving multiple funders, and target audiences.
  • Knowledgeable in modern and essential software platforms and marketing tools/technologies.
  • Experienced with data management and analytics and comfortable with a range of software including CRM (SalesForce), Google Analytics 4, project management software (Asana), and email/marketing campaign tools (MailChimp).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – ideally in both official languages.
  • Strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Thorough knowledge of the digital needs for recording, editing and uploading webinars, videos, and modules on our learning management system.
  • Experience and ability to manage and update WordPress websites with oversight for security, architecture, content modernization, and integration across software platforms and CRM.
  • Ability to represent the organization at a range of public facing events and work with CEO and other senior management in marketing and networking activities.
  • Strong people skills and ability to motivate and inspire your team to advance their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Relevant degree from a university or college.

Main KPI’s Expected:

  • Contributions from marketing to the sponsorship dollars brought into the organization.
  • Exchange registrations.
  • Sign-ups for forums, and events that come directly from marketing initiatives.
  • Growth in brand awareness as measured by increase in social media channels’ numbers, website traffic, and memberships.
  • Revenues earned from several annual online fundraising campaigns.

Compensation:

Will be commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $70k to $85k with competitive benefits package, RRSP contribution, and summer hours.
