Our trip to Ottawa was a great opportunity to bond as a team, with our host families, and to explore another province. Our six days were spent visiting Ottawa’s various tourist attractions, with the occasional basketball game sprinkled in (we played SMT and Glebe). Our weekdays were kicked off with a 90 minute study period, where we attempted to not get left in the dust.  After that, we would bus and train to our destination(s) for that day. Our coach tried to keep it educational, so we went to 3 museums: Museum of History, Museum of War, and the National Gallery. We also went to the Holocaust Monument, as well as the War Monument. Other activities included cheering on the Senators, skating outside of City Hall, and getting our souvenir fix at the Rideau Shopping Centre. Some evenings were spent out with the team, but many were spent with our billets and their families. They were very welcoming, and greeted us with a potluck on our first day. It was great to get to know people we wouldn’t have met otherwise. It was a valuable experience, and one that I would recommend to others.
