Calli Smirl, youth ambassador for École Varennes, a French immersion school in Winnipeg, Manitoba traveled to Baie-Saint-Paul, Québec on January 16th to meet other youth from Centre éducatif Saint-Aubin. Here are her a few of her favorite moments about their experience.
My favourite memory from this trip was when we were doing a photo scavenger hunt. We had to take a whole bunch of selfies and we had fun while touring our twins’ home town. This was one of the only activity days that were in their community. We sure saw how beautiful Quebec really is.
My favourite activity was probably snow tubing at Valcartier. We definitely started to bond with our twins more because we just hung out, while having fun. This was such a great experience because, back home, we don’t have mountains to be able to do this.
This exchange definitely had an impact on me. I know I will do much more travelling than I was planning on and I will never pass up another opportunity like this because this one was great. I will definitely recommend this exchange to other youth, because I wish that any youth should have this opportunity that I had.
My experience in my twin’s house was great!! They were very welcoming and they really are a second family to me now. I will definitely remember the friends I made and all the fun Quebec activities we did during our stay.
